Solutions for Secretaries.Com Use Google Book Search from the Home Page

It seems like it never fails! Quality books always have good indexes, but even good indexes never seem to list the item you're looking for. You can recall reading something about it, but can’t remember the topic or even what part of the book it was in. Google Book Search to the rescue! SfS is now 100% indexed and searchable. Use the gray search box on the home page to quickly easily locate what you're looking for. Pay attention to the sidebar on the right-hand side of the Google Book Search screen. It will include a list of results with a brief summary for each hit. Your search term will also be highlighted wherever it occurs in the book. Another scenario: if you're traveling light (as I always do), you can fill idle moments by cranking up your laptop or PDA and reading parts of the book courtesy of Google. Haven't purchased a copy of the book yet? Don't feel guilty about reading it online. If I was worried about that, Google permits me to restrict access to as little as 20% of the book, although complete responses to searches are still provided. I wrote the book to be helpful, and restricting access didn't seem appropriate. So I set that at 100%. Personally, I hate reading books on computer screens, and expect most others do too. And it's a lot cheaper to buy a nicely printed and bound copy of the book than to print the Google pages one-by-one. So be our guest. We're glad to have you as a part of the SfS community whether you buy the book or not. |
